Banks, Hay and Citizens and Ratepayers lazy elected members
Media Release For Immediate release Wednesday 12 December 2007
Opposition councillors are shocked by the lack of work put in by Mayor Banks, Deputy Mayor Hay and their Citizens and Ratepayers (C&R) council colleagues before the Annual Plan Direction Setting (Auckland City Council budget) meeting held today. "We had read through the paperwork provided by officers and asked many questions on numerous projects" says Councillor Richard Northey. "We identified which projects we knew enough about to make a decision on. We made recommendations on which projects we needed more information on before making a decision. "C&R councillors had clearly not bothered to do this work before today's meeting. We wonder what on earth C&R have been doing since they received their meeting papers because they clearly haven't reached a consensus position on the material. "C&R are lazy - they need to do the work in order to be credible governors in Auckland City. They also need to remember its only 34 months until the next election!"
